Pastor Nathan Barber was raised in a pastor’s home and was saved at an early age while his father was planting a church in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Baptist College of Ministry earning a B.A. and M.A. in Bible (’03 and ’06). He met his wife Dana at college, and they were married in 2005. They have 5 children, Nathan Jr., Micah, Charity, Gracelyn, and Emma.
For 3 years the Barbers ministered on staff at Falls Baptist Church and Academy in Menomonee Falls, WI where they served in many church and school ministries. In 2008 the Lord opened the door for them to assist Pastor Bryce Hager at Fellowship Baptist Church in Taylors, SC where they ministered for just over 4 years. God used Pastor Hager to spark the Barber’s interest in starting a church in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.
Through much prayer and counsel, the Barbers became convinced that God was calling them into church planting. In 2012 an opportunity arose to plant a church in Shorweood, Illinois as a church planting work of First Baptist Church of Woodridge, Illinois pastored by Pastor Matthew Barber.
After a year of full-time deputation, the Barbers moved to Shorewood in June of 2013. With the help of the Lord and many like-minded churches and individuals, Shorewood Baptist Church was launched in October of 2013. The Barbers are overwhelmed with how God is building this new church.
