Fellowship Baptist Church believes that the canon of Scripture containing the sixty-six books of the Bible is the Word of God, and we accept by faith the presupposition that the Bible is true. We believe that God has preserved it (Matt. 5:18; Mark 13:31; Lk. 21:33), that it is complete (Deut. 4:2; Rev. 22:18-19), and has authority over all areas of life and doctrine (Deut. 29:29; Jn. 10:35; Heb. 4:12).
We believe that the Bible has ultimate authority because it always tells the truth (inerrant) (Deut. 32:4; Tit. 1:2), and furthermore, because of the character of God, the Bible cannot contain anything false (infallible) (Prov. 30:5; Jn. 10:35). The Bible has the power to change lives (Heb. 4:12) and the authority to demand holy conduct from every Christian (Lev. 19:1-2).
Fellowship Baptist Church believes that the Bible was preserved by God and that, while the original autographs no longer exist, the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text of the New Testament are the most consistent and accurate representation of the originals.
Furthermore, we believe that the King James Version is the most accurate English translation because of the precision, clarity, and literary quality in its use of the original texts in seeking word-for-word translation instead of the popular modern use of paraphrase in many versions. We use the KJV alone in our preaching and ministry.
